Greece Economic Outlook

Greece’s economy is projected to expand steadily at 2% annually in 2026-2027, supported by resilient domestic demand and a strengthening investment cycle. In 2025, GDP grew 2% year-on-year, driven primarily by private consumption and tourism, with investment accelerating in construction and equipment. Robust corporate lending and continued implementation of the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan are expected to sustain momentum through 2026. Inflation is forecast to moderate from 2.9% in 2025 to 2.2% thereafter, supporting real income growth.

Fiscal fundamentals are improving markedly, with the budget deficit projected to narrow from 0.6% of GDP in 2025 to 0% by 2027, while unemployment declines from 8.9% to 7.9%.

Greece maintains an investment-grade credit rating (BBB), making it an attractive option for investors seeking medium to long-term growth within the EU. Although growth may moderate after 2026 as EU funds taper, the macro backdrop remains supportive for blue chip Greek equities.
